Collingwood’s season ended on Saturday night against a strong St Kilda outfit in front of 76,000 at the MCG.
21-year-old defender Tyson Goldsack spoke to CTV after Collingwood’s 34-point loss to St Kilda.
This was Goldsack’s second finals campaign in his two-year 33-game career.
“Probably just as heart wrenching as the first one. Every year you plan to make the Granny and win it ultimately so to get knocked out to a team we beat twice in a year is very disappointing,” Goldsack said.
“I can’t really explain how bad it feels.”
The defender believed the slow start led to the Magpies defeat.
“I can’t really put a finger on it. If we had got off to a good start, kicked straight and put the pressure on them it might have helped them a bit more.”
A positive to come out the Collingwood season was the blooding of five debutants.
“The experience you get out of finals football, we have four or five blokes who have now played finals football.
“To have them for next year and that experience under their belt and under my belt as well (is important). To have one or two finals campaigns in such an early career is very promising.”
Goldsack mentioned coach Michael Malthouse’s comments to the team and the administration after the game behind closed doors.
“This is real life he (Malthouse) said. It’s not as easy as you might think. Have a real good look at yourself and go against next year so if we make the finals next year, make the most of it.
