Mark Seaby says he is relishing his role in the ruck for the Sydney Swans and loves the feel of the club's traditional home ground, the SCG.

“All the boys were pretty excited training on it and getting ready for our first real home ground game,’’ Seaby said.

Seaby has been in great form during the first few rounds, with his rucking and follow up work around the ground a highlight during the win over Adelaide.

Seaby was traded to the Swans from West Coast at the end of the 2009 season, after playing only five senior games for the Eagles last year.

The 25-year-old says his confidence has grown with the faith shown in him by the Swans coaching staff.

“My confidence is up a lot higher than what I expected at this stage, but a lot of credit goes to Paul (Roos) and John Longmire and (stoppage coach) Mark Stone for instilling that in me, and giving me a bit of a licence to just go out and play footy, which I haven’t really felt for a while,’’ Seaby said.

Seaby said he took up the offer to move to the Swans because he wanted to find out for himself if he could still play well at senior AFL level.

“I just want to have the impact for Sydney. One of the reasons (I moved) was for myself, to find out what I could do, and to see if I could really have a big impact at the top level.’’

Seaby, who was on the opposite side during the great Swans - West Coast rivalry in 2005 and 2006, says his heart is now red and white.  “It’s been easy, the boys have made me feel very welcome and the rivalry that was there before will still be there, but I’ll be on the other side and trying to win it for Sydney,’’ he said.

“I feel I’m all for Sydney, all for the Swans.’’
