CARLTON and Geelong have taken opposing selection philosophies into this week’s NAB Cup semi-final with the Blues resting several key players while the Cats have rushed back several stars.

Chris Judd, Marc Murphy, Bryce Gibbs, Brendan Fevola, Kade Simpson, Mitch Robinson and Jarrad Waite will all sit out for Carlton, while Gary Ablett, Matthew Scarlett, Joel Corey, Cameron Ling, Steven Johnson and Tom Hawkins have been added to the Geelong side that defeated Port Adelaide last week.

Johnson and Hawkins will play their first games for the Cats this year after sitting out the first two NAB Cup matches.

The Cats have also included Tom Gillies for his first run in the blue and white hoops. Gillies is a key defender who was Geelong’s second-round pick in last year’s draft.

The Blues have brought back young ruckman Matthew Kreuzer, who was rested for last week’s win over Hawthorn.

Dream Team watch – Gary Ablett is rated a $495,700 midfielder in Toyota AFL Dream Team 2009.
