The bid process to gain a 17th AFL License on the Gold Coast is in full swing with nearly 9000 registered supporters already pledging allegiance to GC17.
GC17 with the help of the Gold Coast Bulletin is inviting the community to be part of the process to select a name and colours for the new team with a competition kicking off today.
The GC17 website has been inundated with potential names for the new club with monikers ranging from the popular Gold Coast Sharks and Stingrays to the quirky, Gold Coast Mudcrabs, Yabbies and Meter Maids.
The new team’s colours has also been a hugely popular debate with every colour of the rainbow suggested. The more popular choices have revolved around the iconic Gold Coast fine weather such as sky blue and orange emanating from the sun.
The Gold Coast Bulletin is calling upon the Gold Coast community to enter their names and colurs for the new team in two waves. The first wave is designed to gain a short list of five names and colors. In mid July, the short list will be displayed and the community will be invited to design the team jumper. The final result is expected to be announced in grand style at the end of August.
For your chance to become a part of history and have your name colours selected for the Gold Coast’s own AFL team simply go to the Gold Coast Bulletin and fill in a coupon.
