James Polkinghorne: Jack, what sports did you play as a kid?

Jack Redden: I played tennis, football, basketball and cricket. I still have the odd hit of tennis when I get the chance against the ‘Croatian Sensation’ Stipan Brdar who lives in my apartment complex. He is also good at tennis.

JP: What is your favourite place to go out for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

JR: Vagalis in Hamilton would be my favourite place for breakfast, Jennifer’s Catering on Logan Road (near the Gabba) is the best for lunch and Vapiano pasta bar in the city for dinner.

JP: Who was your favourite player in the AFL growing up?

JR: Scott West from the Western Bulldogs. I just liked the way he went about his footy.

JP: What position did you play mostly in your junior years?

JR: I played in the midfield.

JP: What is the most amount of goals you have ever kicked in a game?

JR: Five

JP: What can you tell us about your pre-game routine? What do you do the day before and on match-day? Do you have any superstitions?

JR: I eat plenty of carbs the night before - I usually whip up a chicken carbonara. As far as superstitions go, I always wear my speedos under my shorts and wear my socks down.

JP: What is your favourite exercise in the gym and why?

JR: It would probably have to be the bench press at the moment because I have Todd Banfield covered.

JP: What do you do on your day off? Do you undertake any studies outside the Club?

JR: No, I’m not studying at the moment. But I’m keen to start an apprenticeship in building next year. On my days off, I usually like to head down to the beach for a swim - obviously when the weather is good.

JP: If you could take one person out for dinner who would it be?

JR: Jill Rockliff - just to get her out of Benalla.

JP: Who’s the most famous person you have ever met?

JR: Probably Kevin Rudd.

JP: Favorite movie?

JR: Blue Streak

JP: Favourite holiday destination?

JR: Vanuatu!

JP: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

JR: I put the TV on Video Hits and make my bed.

JP: What do you want for Christmas?

JR: An iPhone 4.

JP: If you weren’t an AFL footballer, what would you be doing?

JR: Probably living in Adelaide doing a building apprenticeship!

JP: Now I’m just going to finish up with some word association. Just tell me the first thing that comes into your head when I say…
