Beveridge will replace the club's previous development coach Alan Richardson, who crossed to Essendon at the end of the season to take up an assistant coaching role.
The former St Bedes coach has an impressive recent coaching record, having led the Tigers to three successive premierships while moving up a section level each year from C in 2006 to A-grade this season.
He was appointed as coach of TAC Cup side the Sandringham Dragons just over two weeks ago, but will now move to the Lexus Centre instead.
Beveridge played 118 AFL games for Melbourne, Footscray and St Kilda, and comes from a strong footballing bloodline that includes his grandfather Jack, who played 148 games for Collingwood, and his father John, who has been involved in recruiting at St Kilda for over 25 years.
He will commence his new coaching role when the team returns from the high altitude training camp in Arizona, which will be held from November 10 to 24.
The Magpies' coaching structure for next year will be:
Mick Malthouse – senior coach
Brad Scott – assistant coach (midfield)
Mark Neeld – assistant coach (defensive/backs)
Paul Hudson – assistant coach (offensive/forwards)
Blake Caracella – assistant coach (opposition)
Luke Beveridge – development manager
Gavin Brown – VFL head coach
Paul Licuria – development/VFL administrator
