Port Moresby to Deniki
The group spent Friday night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Port Moresby where they undertook an extensive in-country brief including what to expect, how to pack and other administration information for the trek.
Early in the morning, the team boarded a charter flight to the Kokoda Station where they were given a breifing on the battle that took place approximately 70 years ago, afterwhich they had time to vist the war museum and memorial sites.
The group then moved on under canopy to Kovelo and the village of Hoi for lunch. At Hoi they were able to get some relief from the heat with a swim in the creek.
The group arrived at their night location of Deniki where the weather appears to be clouding over for the night which is likely to result in rain.
Tomorrow morning the travel party will step-off early and make their way to the Isurava battle site - the home of the four pillars 'Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrafice'.
