ST KILDA and Hawthorn captains Nick Riewoldt and Sam Mitchell have criticised the behaviour of Carlton spearhead Brendan Fevola, following the Saints' win over the Blues on Friday night.

Fevola, 27, was seen hugging almost every member of the St Kilda side directly after his club's loss, prompting television commentator Nathan Buckley to question the popular spearhead's commitment to his team.

Riewoldt said, while Fevola has a naturally friendly personality, he wouldn't like to see that sort of behaviour replicated within his own team.

"Once the game was over, I'm not sure if it was entirely appropriate, and I certainly wouldn't be encouraging our players to do that after a loss," Riewoldt said.

Mitchell agreed the Hawks would frown upon such individual acts.

"After a loss at our footy club, we like to really have a think about what went wrong and what we could do differently," he said.

"Having said that, that's our football club and it might be that way at St Kilda, but Carlton might be different in their expectations of their players.

"I can only speak on behalf of Hawthorn. We wouldn't want players doing that, but that's not to say it's not alright for him because he's one of those guys whenever you meet him, he's just a fun-loving, energetic sort of a bloke.

"So I don't think there's too much in it."
