The AFL’s top individual award, the Brownlow Medal, will tonight crown the best player of the 2011 season - but who will be the Saints best performer on the leader board?
St Kilda had two players in the top 10 last season with Lenny Hayes finishing 8th (19 votes) and Leigh Montagna in equal 9th (16 votes).
Despite the team’s slow start to the season, there are a number of Saints players who are a chance to poll well this year.
Midfielder Nick Dal Santo had an outstanding year and is favored to be the side’s best performer in the battle for ‘Charlie’.
Stephen Milne had arguably his best season in his 11 year career, receiving All-Australian honors for the first time and finishing equal 4th in the Coleman medal after booting 55 goals.
Milney’s 8 goal performance against the Crows in Round 18 and his four, four goal hauls in season 2011 should see the gun small forward acknowledged with plenty of votes after his outstanding year.
Other players to look out for are Leigh Montagna who always catches the umpires attention, high-flying star Brendon Goddard and defender Sam Fisher.
