Roos made it very clear the Swans have not spoken to Fevola, and have certainly not made him an offer.
“I haven’t spoken to Brendan. No one from the club [has spoken to Brendan], Andrew Ireland hasn’t spoken to Brendan,” said Roos.
“We haven’t made Brendan an offer. I’d expect him to sign with Carlton in the not-too-distant future. Why it comes up, and where it comes from, we’re a bit dumbfounded.”
Roos’ close friendship with Fevola’s manager Alastair Lynch added to speculation the Carlton forward was heading to Sydney.
“I spoke to Lynchy this morning and asked him where it’s coming from,” said Roos.
“He was a bit embarrassed as well. At the moment, we’re probably like all clubs: we expect him to sign with Carlton and we expect that to happen shortly.”
Last night, a football panel show reported Sydney had offered Fevola a four-year, 3 million dollar contract, a claim that Roos said was categorically false.
“We absolutely have not made him a four-year offer. We have not made him any offer whatsoever. It’s ridiculous, three million over four years. I don’t know where that comes from.
“Our expectation is that he’ll sign with Carlton. Now, if that was to change, then we’d sit down and talk as a footy club as to whether we believe that Brendan would fit into the club.
"Until that happens, it’s almost pointless discussing whether he comes, whether you’d want him to come."
Roos said the club would only consider Fevola if he had decided to leave Carlton, which Roos believes is unlikely and would personally advise against.
“A type of player like Brendan has to decide: does he want to stay at Carlton or does he want to leave.
“If there was a problem with Brendan and the Carlton football club, and he did say that he didn’t want to be at the Carlton football club, then we would discuss him as a football club and if he was interested in coming here, and we were interested, we would then pursue it.
"At this stage, that hasn’t been discussed. We expect him to sign with Carlton.”
