North Melbourne chairman James Brayshaw will lead by example on Saturday by heading down to the cheer squad to support the Kangaroos’ players against Collingwood.

“I’m gonna have my jumper on, the traditional strip against the Magpies, it’s going to be sensational,” Brayshaw told kangaroos.com.au.

“After halftime when I leave the Executive Club function, I’ll be down there with the Big Bear and all the cheer squad superstars…I’m gonna have my jumper on, on the outside wearing it very proudly and cheering.”

Brayshaw said it’s important that all supporters responded to the club’s call to ‘Earn their stripes' on the weekend. It’s been several years since the club has worn its traditional jumper against the Magpies. A situation coach Brad Scott labeled ‘embarrassing’.

“Our members have stated very clearly to us that one of the main things that annoys them is the fact that we don’t get to wear our home jumper when we are the home team. So this week, we are the home team and we are wearing our home jumper and I’m going to have mine on,” Brayshaw added.

“I think the AFL realized that it needed to be resolved, Collingwood was good too…they came to the party so we’ve now got a situation where the jumpers are all sorted out and everyone is happy.

“Get there…everyone should. It should be a sell-out because we are playing the best team in the competition and it will be a big challenge for our boys. So get there in a massive number but when you get there, make sure you’re wearing your jumper or our colours and be as loud as you possibly can.”
