JASON ‘Dizzy’ Gillespie will be part of a talented and star-studded Power XI to take on the Crows XI in the SA Footy Bushfire Bash for Cash on Tuesday night.

The side will be captained by young gun Travis Boak and feature the likes of Gavin Wanganeen, Kane Cornes, and Brendon Lade.

Troy Chaplin – who has been Chairman of Selectors – says there has been fierce competition for a place in the Power’s First XI.

“There are quite a few disappointed boys who have just missed out on a spot, but they’ll get their chance to participate one way or another with every player being present on the night,” Chaplin says.

“We’ll have a few tricks up our sleeve, and we urge all Power supporters to come along and give us their support as we raise funds for the bushfire appeal.”

Power skipper Dom Cassisi – who bowls right-handed and bats left-handed – said the Power’s opening attack is likely to be Jason Gillespie and Glenn Dawson.

“We’ll more than likely being throwing the new ball to Dizzy and the Cougar, and we’re looking forward to a bit of early damage being done there,” Cassisi said.

Dawson, who was drafted by the Power in November, broke Mike Hussey’s bat in the nets at Adelaide Oval last year (full story here and featured on PTV here).

In addition to all funds raised from Tuesday’s Twenty20 match, the gate-takings from the Power’s Family Day at Alberton tomorrow (Saturday 14 February) will be donated to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal. The Port Adelaide players have kick-started that fund by donating $5,000.
