WHITEFRIARS Primary School enjoyed their second lesson of Girl Power this week.

The lesson was all about “Teamwork”, learning the positive and negative effects of teamwork, along with having a great time together while working as a team. Students were lucky enough to have a Adelaide Thunderbirds goal shooter, Mel Rowland, present to assist with the activities and to give some advice.

The girls started with an activity called ‘Untangle’, in this game the girls had to link arms in a tangle; they had to work together using different teamwork skills to untangle each other.

The second game the girls played was called ‘Minefield’. In ‘Minefield’ the girls were tested with their ability to communicate and trust each other. One girl was blindfolded and could not see; her teammate’s job was to guide her across and around the Minefield to get to the other side, if a girl touched a mine they had to go back and start again. The girls had a lot of fun completing this challenge!

After some hard work completing the teamwork challenges the girls provided some key learning’s about what teamwork skills they used in this lesson and how they can apply them at school, at sport or in day to day situations.

At the conclusion of the lesson each student had the chance to ask Mel some questions, followed by handing out each student a Girl Power drink bottles, stickers and a signed Thunderbirds poster.

The Power will make its last visit to Whitefriars PS on Tuesday the 11th of May.

The Port Adelaide Football Club would like to thank Whitefriars PS for hosting the Power over the past two weeks.
