Collingwood made it five wins on the trot with an 84-point thumping over Fremantle at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
The Magpies kicked 10 goals in the final term to stamp their authority on the final margin.
Forward Paul Medhurst, who was a late inclusion for Leon Davis (ill), kicked two goals and had 17 possessions in his return to senior football.
The 2008 All-Australian injured his ankle in round six against North Melbourne and played his seventh match of the season with his return on Saturday afternoon.
“To kick ten goals in the last quarter was really good to finish it off,” Medhurst told CTV in the MCG rooms after the match.
"Percentage is going to be important and we haven’t had a good history of running games out but did well today.”
Medhurst was damaging in the final term racking up nine possessions, five marks and two goals.
“I got a couple of kicks there in the end when it opened up a bit. It was really good to be out there with the boys again. It’s been seven weeks now and good to be part of the good win.”
The Magpies got off to an ideal start, kicking the first five goals of the match to take a three-goal lead into the second quarter.
“It’s really important to do that against interstate sides because if they can get their confidence up it’s going to be a really hard contest.
"To finish the game off like we did is really encouraging."
Next Friday night proves to be the match of the round with Collingwood hosting Essendon at the MCG.
“It’s going to be a big win. They had a massive win last Friday night. They are playing good footy and we are playing good footy so it’s going to be a good contest.”
