Brett Burton has announced he will retire from the AFL at the end of the 2010 season.

Burton, 32, has played 177 AFL games for Adelaide since making his debut in 1999. He has been sidelined since round eight, after having knee surgery, but expects to return to the field next month.

Burton was drafted from SANFL club Woodville-West Torrens with Adelaide’s first selection in the 1998 national draft (pick No 16) and made his AFL debut in the opening round the next year.

He was Adelaide’s leading goalkicker in 2002 and also 2008, when he had a knee reconstruction after round 15. He returned to the AFL a year later and took the mark of the year in round 22 against Carlton at Etihad Stadium.

Send your tributes here to Brett on what has been a fantastic career with the Crows.
