This month we are launching an exciting competition for schools and students to enter and have some great prizes on offer just for participating. Entries will be grouped into Prep - Grade 2, Grades 3 - 4, and Grades 5 - 7, with AFL or Netball prize packs* being awarded to lucky winners from each group.

To enter the competition, simply download and print out a copy of our Healthy Banner template for either AFL or Netball, from the link below or the Teacher Resources page on the 1Seven website. The competition closes Friday 25th November (5pm EST) and winners will be selected and announced by Friday 2nd December.

Your entries can be submitted via email to 1seven@afl.com.au or posted to:

Along with the competition this month, teachers can read up why Busy Kids Need Big Breakfasts, especially before P.E class. Kids can learn more about some Super Fruits and Vegetables and how to make the most of these important, nutritious foods.

For parents this month, we’re emphasising the importance of regular physical activity for our kids, whether it be Making Time for Team Sports or ensuring our kids get Top Marks for Regular Exercise.

What you need to do: Create a healthy banner message, including the word 1Seven somewhere in your message. Just like some AFL banners, try to make the message rhyme by using the formula of:
  • The last word of Lines 1 and 3 should try to rhyme (or sound similar)
  • The last word of Lines 2 and 4 should try to rhyme (or sound similar)

* AFL prize pack includes football, water bottle, hand towel and AFL book.
* Netball prize pack includes Backpack, netball, diary, Diamond Girl facewasher.

Busy Kids Need Big Breakfasts

What a child eats for breakfast may affect how they perform at school throughout the day. If they have physical education classes, a bigger brekkie is certainly in order.

KIDS

Super Fruits and Vegetables
We all know we should eat more fruit and vegetables. But what does 'more' mean? And which ones are best?

PARENTS

Make Time For Team Sports
Are your children spending too much time playing computer games or watching TV? Team sports may be the answer to getting inactive children interested in exercise.

Top Marks For Regular Exercise
Physically active kids tend to do better in school than their more sedentary friends.
