THIS year's Sandover medallist Hayden Ballantyne will be allowed to nominate for the NAB AFL Draft despite missing the WA state screening because he was on holiday overseas.

Ballantyne's manager, Colin Young, wrote to the AFL explaining the circumstances of the Peel Thunder forward's failure to attend last Sunday's screening.

Attending either the NAB AFL Draft Camp or a state screening session is compulsory for those hoping to be drafted.

The AFL announced on Wednesday that Ballantyne, 21, would be allowed to enter the draft provided that he attends a screening session to be organised next week when he returns to Australia.
