The 275-game veteran, who was enjoying a strong preparation up until recently, hasn’t played any practice matches during the pre-season after experiencing general soreness towards the end of February.
Collingwood’s chief of football Geoff Walsh told collingwoodfc.com.au that the 275-game veteran will miss the standard period of time for a player with a hamstring injury.
“Nathan was on target to play in round one (against the Kangaroos on March 31), but after this setback on Monday, will likely be sidelined for the standard 21-28 days”, Walsh explained.
After overcoming a career-threatening hamstring injury in 2005, the inspirational Collingwood captain, who will turn 35 in July, spent more time up forward in 2006 and played all but two matches.
2007 is Buckley’s record-breaking ninth season as Collingwood skipper.
