The Lions, who lost to the Western Bulldogs on Friday night, will have the 12th pick at November's draft, while Adelaide is left with pick No.13 after being overrun by Collingwood on Saturday night.
Last season, the Lions had the No.7 pick in the draft, and used it to grab 2009 NAB AFL Rising Star Daniel Rich.
The Crows top selection last year was No.10, which they used to pick up Phil Davis.
Melbourne has the first two picks, No.1 is a priority for failing to win more than four-and-a-half games for the second straight season, and No.2 is for finishing 16th in 2009.
The Demons will be the first club to have picks one and two since St Kilda in 2000.
The Saints grabbed current captain Nick Riewoldt and Justin Koschitzke with those two selections.
Richmond will have pick three followed by Fremantle (four), North Melbourne (five), Sydney Swans (six), West Coast (seven), Port Adelaide (eight) and Hawthorn (nine).
So far, West Coast, Hawthorn and Melbourne have indicated that their first round picks are tradeable.
Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Tom Scully is still widely regarded as the most likely No.1 pick with fellow Victorian John Butcher in top five calculations.
However, South Australian Jack Trengove, who captained his state at the 2009 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, is making a name for himself in the SANFL and shapes as a potential top three pick.
Western Australian winger Anthony Morabito is another interstate junior that Melbourne and Richmond will be analysing with their prized picks.
The Peel Thunder youngster showed an accomplished inside and outside game at this year's under-18 championships winning All-Australian selection. Fremantle will be hoping he can slip to pick No.4.
East Fremantle's Kane Lucas and Brad Sheppard are two other Western Australians in calculations for the first round, while mature-age dasher Lewis Jetta continues to impress in the WAFL with his run and carry and penetrating kick.
Peel Thunder's Aaron Black and North Adelaide's James Craig are two big men with rising stocks while Geelong Falcons duo Ben Cunnington and Gary Rohan continue to shoot up the pecking order.
