KANGAROO Corey Jones praised theperformance of teammate Drew Petrie in the 25-point victory over the Tigers atTelstra Dome. Petrie bagged six goals, complementing his seven-goal tally in theteam’s previous week’s game against the Bulldogs.

“I don’t know what he’s doing off the field, but as long as he keeps it up,” Jones said.

“Drew’s had a great two weeks. It’s good towatch and good to be a part of it. Thirteen straight he’s kicked, I think. Hehasn’t missed. It’s exceptional goalkicking.”

The 26-year-old says that, although hisside is confident going into its round 15 clash with Fremantle in Perth, watching the West Coast Eagles fail against Brisbane at the weekend wasa stark reminder not to get complacent.

“Generally we go alright over there. We’reeight points ahead of Fremantle, so it’s a big game to shape the eight. We’vejust got to make sure we just keep doing what we’ve been doing, because itworks. We can’t stray away from that … if you do, you see what happened to WestCoast.

“If you’re not mentally switched on, that’swhat sides will do to you. We had to make sure, especially after Archer’s 300thand everyone being so fired up last week, that we went out there ready to play.

Jones believes that starting theirpre-season early is the reason for the Roos’ good form.

“We went in as favourites yesterday, probably the first time for the year. We don’t get much recognition. We didn’tat the start of the year and we still don’t. It doesn’t worry us, though. Aslong as we keep doing the business and preparing, as we have been doing eachweek and carrying out the coach’s instructions, we’ll be alright.”
