Port Adelaide could hand out as many as three AFL debuts on Sunday with a trio of untried youngsters included in its 25-man squad to play Hawthorn.

The Power will be forced into at least two changes from the 22 that lost to Geelong on Sunday. Daniel Motlop will miss up to eight weeks with a broken collarbone while Matt Thomas has been suspended for a week.

One replacement will be half-back Brad Symes who has gone in and out of the side this year but is a certain starter on Sunday after being named on a half-back flank.

The rest of the make-up of the side is less certain with three potential debutantes all named on an extended interchange bench.

They are: midfielder Travis Boak, one of the highest-rated youngsters to ever come to Port Adelaide; small forward Robbie Gray, who was talked about during the week as a Gary Ablett Jnr look-a-like; and key forward Justin Westhoff, who has been kicking goals for Central District’s league side. All three were taken in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft.

The bench, from which three will become emergencies on Friday at 4.30pm, also includes full-back Alipate Carlile, who has played one AFL game, Nathan Krakouer, eight games, Fabian Deluca, 4 games, and Greg Bentley, 11 games. That’s 24 games experience between the seven of them.

There will be no comeback yet for arguably the Power’s toughest ever player in Michael Wilson, who went close to proving he was over a torn pectoral muscle. Fellow premiership forward Josh Mahoney will play his first SANFL game since 2005 on the weekend after being dropped last week but missing a game as Glenelg had the bye.
