Other incidents assessed
The match day report laid against Carlton’s Jarrad Waite for engaging in rough conduct against Melbourne’s Matthew Bate from Saturday’s match was assessed. The panel said that the ball was kicked out of the Carlton backline and Waite had left the ground in an attempt to mark the ball, with his arms outstretched for the ball and his eyes on the ball. The marking contest was intercepted by Bate and contact was made by Waite to Bate. The panel said that the contact made was inevitable and was not deemed to be reportable. No further action was taken.

The match day report laid against the Western Bulldogs’ Ben Hudson for engaging in rough conduct against Collingwood’s Luke Ball from Sunday’s match was assessed. The panel said Ball had the ball and was grabbed in a tackle by Hudson. Hudson lifted Ball in his tackling motion but, while completing the tackle, Ball’s head did not make contact with the ground and no other injury was sustained by Ball, according to a medical report. It was therefore deemed that the tackle was not made with excessive force. No further action was taken.

Contact involving Fremantle’s Aaron Sandilands and the Adelaide Crows’ Phil Davis from the second quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The panel said Sandilands was running towards the ball in a legitimate attempt to mark the football. Contact was made while both players were seeking to take possession of the ball. No further action was required.
