ST KILDA remains unbeaten seven games into the season after outclassing Collingwood by 88 points at Docklands on Monday night.

The match promised plenty, but delivered little for Magpie fans who witnessed their team kick just one goal in the first half as the Saints' juggernaut rolled to a record winning margin against Collingwood.

Once again the intense pressure the Saints were able to generate on the opposition forced multiple turnovers which they often punished severely on their way to the 20.8 (128) to 5.10 (40) victory.

St Kilda had winners across every line with Leigh Montagna (38 possessions), Nick Dal Santo (38), Lenny Hayes (33) and Luke Ball (26) the pick of the onballers.

Up forward Nick Riewoldt booted three last-quarter goals to finish with five, but it was a night for the small forwards, with Adam Schneider and Stephen Milne booting five and four goals respectively.

The Saints' defence was close to impenetrable for most of the evening with Sam Fisher (29 possessions) and Sam Gilbert (29) supplying plenty of rebound.

Conversely, Collingwood had few solid contributors, and also came away with injury concerns over Travis Cloke and Dane Swan.

The Pies generated enough scoring opportunities in the first quarter, but failed to make the most of them. The absence in attack of late withdrawals Leon Davis and Paul Medhurst, along with the suspended John Anthony, robbed them of quality finishers, but the Saints had no such problems.

It was the mosquito fleet that did the damage early with first Milne then Schneider opening their accounts in classic rover fashion.

Tarkyn Lockyer booted what turned out to be his side's only goal of the first half eight minutes in, but Milne's second saw the Saints lead by 11 points at the first break.

After a fairly even opening stanza St Kilda found top gear in the second and clinically went about putting the game out of Collingwood's reach.

The Saints more than doubled the Magpies' possession count for the quarter with Montagna, Dal Santo and Hayes in particular cleaning up around the stoppages.

Riewoldt sent his first shot wide before kicking truly for the first two goals of the term and, when Milne added his third after a deft one-handed gather at speed, the rout was on.

Schneider helped himself to his second after a display of superior body work, Brendon Goddard got on the end of a nice passage of play and converted and Justin Koschitzke blasted home from point-blank range to set up the half-time margin of 49 points.

Zac Dawson, whose first tangle with Anthony Rocca back when he was a Hawk didn't end well, soundly took the honours this time around, but the Pie spearhead managed a goal to start the second half to give black-and-white fans a glimmer of hope.

The Saints quickly extinguished that with the next three goals, including a Jason Gram long bomb, that put the margin beyond the 10-goal mark.

Sharrod Welligham made the most of a rare turnover to add the Pies' third, but Andrew McQualter chipped in with two goals to extend the lead to 73 points at three-quarter time.

The Pies had nothing but their pride to play for as the match entered the final period, but St Kilda wasn't about to ease up.

Milne and Schneider continued their night out, but it was Riewoldt who hammered the nails into the Collingwood coffin with three final-term goals, putting the exclamation point on a night to remember for the Saints' faithful.

The Pies remain in the top eight on percentage despite the loss, and will hope to consolidate that position when they take on arch-rival Carlton in round eight.
