All three have excellent claims to be included in the team with Fevola the favourite to be selected at full-forward as the Coleman Medallist for the season. Last year Fevola was selected in the forward pocket alongside Lance Franklin and selection this year would be his third All Australian ‘guernsey’, having also gained selection in 2006 and 2008.
Of course Chris Judd was named captain of the 2008 All Australian team and his 2009 season was even better than last year so it would be difficult for the selectors to leave him out of the top 22 players for the year. Judd has previously been selected as an All Australian in 2004, 2006 and of course last year. It is hard to believe that selection this year will be the first time he has made the All Australian team in consecutive years. Perhaps this is as much about the high standards he sets as it is about his form.
Marc Murphy has had an outstanding 2009 season and is certainly in line for selection in the final 22 for the first time. The third highest possession winner at Carlton this season Murphy was also the third highest goal kicker with 30 goals for the season. Only Fevola with 86 and Betts with 37 kicked more goals for Carlton in 2009.
