Two familiar faces will again lead from the front at Williamstown in 2008 following the announcement of the leadership group.

After leading Williamstown to a Preliminary Final last season, Brett Johnson will return as Seagulls Captain in 2008. Johnson, a terrific leader on and off the field, was elected for the role by the playing group last season and will continue to lead the Club as it strives for VFL success.

"It's a huge honour to be re-appointed captain of such a proud and historic club such as Williamstown and join other greats such as Barry Round, Gerry Callahan, Terry Wheeler, Troy West and Brad Lloyd as having the privilege to lead the Seagulls into battle,” Johnson said.

“I am looking forward to the upcoming season and leading the Seagulls deep into September action.”

Steven Greene was re-appointed as vice-captain and is looking forward to getting back on the field after missing a large chunk of last season due to a knee injury. Greene's knee is progressing well and he is aiming to be fit to play in the Round 1 clash against Werribee.
Jason Cloke, Ben Jolley, Murray Boyd, Tom Langlands, Matthew Cravino and Mick Tanner form the rest of the leadership group.

Cloke and Jolley have made a significant impact on the training track since arriving from the Bendigo Bombers at the end of last year and will be strong leadership figures this season.

After coming through the ranks at the Western Jets and playing their local football at Spotswood, Boyd and Langlands are fine young players who will lead from the front with strong performances each week for Coach Brad Gotch.

Cravino and Tanner are new additions to the leadership group who demand respect from the rest of the players. Cravino’s competitiveness was rewarded last season with the Ron James Memorial trophy as the most valuable player as voted by the playing group. Tanner, a reliable defender last year, arrived from Old Essendon at the start of 2007.
