The quartet arrived in Brisbane on Sunday and will spend the majority of their first few days at the Lions familiarising themselves with their new facility, coaches and team-mates.
Senior Coach Michael Voss said he was looking forward to spending time with his newest recruits who are about to begin their exciting journey with the Club.
“We will get them in on Monday and the hard work begins,” Voss said.
“It’s a big step for them. They’ve been drafted which is a big occasion for them, but their book hasn’t been written yet.”
“Chapter one hasn’t started yet, and how they choose to write it will be up to them.”
Voss was thrilled with the Lions’ outcome on Draft day and was pleased to welcome four quality individuals to the Club.
“We weren’t too sure with what GWS were going to do, so we had a few contingencies with our first pick,” Voss said.
“Everyone walks away thinking they’ve got the deals and the bargains, but we couldn’t be more pleased with our first pick. We rated Billy in our top five, so to get him at Pick No.8 is a bit of a bargain from our end.”
“Not only that, but it also meant we were able to bolster our talls.”
“Sam Docherty is a half-back and was probably best described to me as a Jed Adcock (type of player). He interviewed exceptionally well at the Draft Combine and is obviously an outstanding individual,” he said.
“Elliott Yeo is more of a midfielder/wingman. Graeme Hadley is a big fan of him and ranked him very highly in the Draft.”
“As we went through the list, we started ticking the players off and Patrick Wearden was still there. That was another nice surprise for us. He’s 191cm, moves really well and is probably more of an outside midfielder, but can play inside. So we’ve been able to bolster our midfield strength that’s for sure.”
