ESSENDON forward Alwyn Davey will miss the rest of the season with a broken arm.

Davey was injured in the second quarter of Essendon’s 76-point loss to Carlton and stayed on the bench for the rest of the game.

A glimmer of good news is that while both the radius and ulna have been fractured, neither bone has been displaced.

Football manager Paul Hamilton said while scans had revealed the fractures, further advice was being sought regarding possible surgery.

“Alwyn had it confirmed last night that both his bones have cracks in them,” Hamilton told the Essendon website.

“The next step will be to see the specialist to determine whether he will need a plate or whether we will put it in plaster and let it heal naturally, because there hasn’t been a displacement.

“The specialist will determine what the further action is and we will know from there.”
