Sydney Swans fans in eight regional centres and towns across New South Wales will have the chance to meet their heroes, as part of the Club’s 2011 Community Camp.

The Swans playing group will scatter throughout the state on February 8 and 9, visiting Illawarra, the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Southern Highlands, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Wagga and Griffith.

Swans veteran Jude Bolton said the annual Community Camps were an important part of the pre-season and preparation for the 2011 season.

“The Community Camps are a great way for players to get out into the communities and meet the fans and lend a helping hand where possible,”

“Players always enjoy having a short break from the usual training routine and look forward to visiting schools, hospitals and running clinics for the local kids,”.

This is the second year the Swans will send smaller groups of players to various locations, and Bolton said it was important the Club could reach as many fans as possible.

“The Community Camps are the one chance throughout the season where we can spend a bit of time travelling out to places like Wagga, Coffs Harbour and many others we simply can’t get to during the season,” he said.

Detailed itineraries and player allocations will be released closer to the date.
