GOLD Coast football manager Marcus Ashcroft says the Suns will try their best to help Josh Toy find a Victorian club.
As revealed by AFL.com.au on Wednesday night, Toy, who is out of contract, has requested a move back to his home state and has held meetings with a number of clubs including the Western Bulldogs, Hawthorn and Essendon.
But the race is now on to get a deal completed before the trade period ends at 2pm on Friday.
"I think more than likely he'll head back to Victoria," Ashcroft told Gillette Trade Radio on Thursday.
"We're looking after Josh and making sure he can get back to Victoria.
"We're concerned about his welfare and helping him get to a club for next year."

The 20-year-old's congenital heart problem has attracted much publicity in recent times, and his manager, Liam Pickering, says the issue has been a concern for some clubs.
"The medical reports going around about him, which are not 100 per cent accurate in a lot of cases, are probably going against him a little bit," Pickering said on Thursday afternoon.
"I'm not sure how it will pan out tomorrow with Josh.
"If nothing happens, we'll assess the situation from there and see whether he gets delisted or he'll go into the draft, I guess.
"I don't think we'll get a deal done by tomorrow's deadline, but again we'll have to wait and see.
"He's real quality, talented young kid, but we've still got to get someone prepared to give something up for him.
"It'll be interesting to see what unfolds."

Toy was one of the eligible 17-year-old access selections picked by Gold Coast in 2010.
However, he has played only 13 games in his two seasons with the Suns.
"We'd love for him to continue on and play the footy we know he could've played," Ashcroft said.
"A couple of years ago he was touted as a top-five draft pick, but a lot of things have gone on off and also on the field.
"In Josh's best interests, I think he needs to be back in Victoria and we'll help him out as best we can."
