The North Melbourne Football Club is delighted to announce it has signed rising star Jack Ziebell for a further three years.

The 18-year-old says the decision to stay at Arden Street after the 2010 season was an easy one to make.

“There was really no question in my mind. North Melbourne is where I want to play my football,” Ziebell told kangaroos.com.au.

“The club has taken significant steps on and off the field and the group we have at the club is amazingly talented and I want us all to stick together because I believe we could be heading toward something pretty special in the near future.”

Ziebell was North Melbourne’s first round draft selection at the 2008 National Draft, after surprisingly slipping through to pick nine.

The 188 centimetre midfielder says signing his contract early in the year will enable him to concentrate solely on football.

“I don’t have to think about it now and I can just get on with playing well for the club and our supporters.”

Ziebell averaged 15.5 touches last year before his season came to a premature end after he broke his leg following a courageous dive at the ball against Adelaide in round 12.

North’s list and strategy manager Cameron Joyce says Ziebell’s signing sends a strong message to the rest of the playing group and supporters.

“It really shows that North Melbourne is heading in the right direction. Jack’s commitment should resonate strongly among our young group and all our players should be delighted that he’s chosen to extend his agreement.

“The future of this club was already looking bright but this latest development has just pushed it to the next level.”
