Ross Lyon has outlined that there will be a number of changes made to his side ahead of St Kilda’s clash with Brisbane on Thursday night, with key tall Justin Koschitzke likely to play his first game of the year.

Speaking to the media this morning, Lyon explained that he would be picking players that would give maximum effort in the Saints’ first away fixture of Season 2011.

“We’re going to pick players that represent our members in a manner that is expected,” said Lyon.

“Justin Koschitzke looks like playing and Winmar is also close to selection” he said.

“The real philosophy will be playing players that have a real crack and are prepared to give their best effort. Birth certificates are out the window and we are really about effort and growth mindset.”

After having the BYE in Round 4, Lyon said that this week’s trip to Queensland would be a great challenge for his side.

“It’s a difficult assignment and a little unique on a Thursday night but it’s a really good opportunity to travel and get away together and find some form, ” Lyon said.

Lyon mentioned that the Club had used the BYE to review their game plan and said that the players had responded well.

“It was a really good opportunity to have a bit more time to break things down and work through some areas,” he said.

“The response from the playing group has been fantastic.”

St Kilda will train hard over the next few days before flying to Brisbane later in the week with Lyon confident that his side could turn their year around.

“I’m confident that the group can get up and going. With great effort results will take care of themselves.”
