It was a damp, but happy coach who fronted the media after submitting to the traditional sports drink shower as the Kangaroos belted out the club song.
"When you break your duck and get your first win, you've got to jump in the circle and get sprayed with Powerade so I'm nice and sticky at the moment," Crocker said. "But I'll take that any day after a win.
"I was just rapt for the playing group because they've been really, really good since I took over. I couldn't have been more pleased with the way they've applied themselves throughout the week and also their effort in a lot of our games.
"Brisbane is the aberration … but other than that we've been in most games that we've played and it's great for them to get some reward for the effort and commitment they've shown since I took over."
After an even first quarter the Roos powered away from the Dees and were well served by their big men up forward. The Kangaroos went inside forward 50 on 45 occasions – four less than Melbourne – but were efficient once in attack with 19 goals on the day.
Todd Goldstein played his best game for the club with 25 hit-outs and five goals which Crocker said was testament to the 21-year-old's work rate.
"I'm really, really pleased for him. He's worked extremely hard to get to where he is," Crocker said.
"He was disappointed last week to kick three points against Carlton as were a number of other individuals, but he went out, applied himself and did some goal kicking throughout the week.
"He came out today, played well in the ruck, pushed forward, took some catches and obviously kicked straight. It's just a great example of a guy who has gone back and tried to learn from his mistakes and worked extremely hard to correct it."
North faces West Coast in Perth next week and escaped the match largely unscathed with Hamish McIntosh (back) and Josh Gibson (thumb) the only casualties, but neither is considered in doubt.
