The Brisbane Lions AFC have today confirmed that Assistant Coaches Jade Rawlings and Beau McDonald would not remain with the Club in 2012.

General Manager - Football Operations, Dean Warren, today thanked both Rawlings and McDonald for the significant contributions they had made to the growth and development of the Club’s young playing list.

Rawlings came to the Lions as defensive coach at the end of 2009, while McDonald, who played 91 games for the Lions from 1998-2007, joined the Club as the specialist/ruck coach in 2010.

‘We’d like to thank both Jade and Beau for their commitment to the Brisbane Lions over the years,” Warren said.

“They have shown outstanding service to this Club and we sincerely wish them both the best for their future endeavours.”

Rawlings said that he had enjoyed his time with Brisbane but that he was looking forward to returning to Melbourne with his young family.

“We’ve loved it here in Brisbane but it’s time for the next chapter, and the best place for us to be is home in Melbourne with our family and friends,” Rawlings said.

“I’ve made some great friendships with both the staff and players here at Lions, and it was a very amicable departure on both sides. The Club were fantastic and very understanding of my reasons for leaving.”

“I’ve learnt a lot during my time here and I’d say I’m a better footy person for having spent time at the Club - I wish the Lions every success for the future.”
