Clanger of the year?
Jay Schulz's shot on goal in the first quarter is an early contender for the best (or worst) clanger of the year, spraying it out on the full from 30 metres out.
Schulz prides himself on his goalkicking but this wasn't his best effort, reminiscent of Bomber Ty Zantuck's shot at AAMI Stadium against the Power back in 2005.
Star of the future: Wingard
Pick No. 6 at last year's NAB AFL Draft, Chad Wingard had a debut to remember and is destined for big things.
He accumulated 16 possessions and used them well, looking poised under pressure while wowing the crowd with his freakish skill on several occasions.
Chaplin's job on Riewoldt
With reigning club champion Jackson Trengove out with a finger injury, Troy Chaplin faced the unenviable task of shutting down Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt.
While Riewoldt kicked two goals, his influence on the game was not enough to lead St Kilda to victory, thanks largely to the work of Chaplin.
Redden's debut
Jarrad Redden has assumed the number one ruck spot at the Power over the summer in the absence of Matthew Lobbe and Brent Renouf, and he doesn't look like giving it up without a fight.
His 21 hitouts and 12 disposals were crucial for the Power before he was subbed out of the game in the third quarter and coach Matthew Primus said he rucked "manfully".
Soft Saints?
St Kilda were smashed in contested possession and clearances and Scott Watters suggested he had his eye on several players post match.
The Saints lost the clearances 43 to 29 on Sunday night and registered 25 fewer contested possessions.
It's an aspect of his side's game that Watters will want to sure up pretty quickly.
