COLLINGWOOD captain Scott Burns believes ruck duo Cameron Wood and Chris Bryan can cover the absence of number-one big man Josh Fraser this Saturday night against the Swans.

Burns said the Pies are more concerned about missing spearhead Anthony Rocca, who suffered a season-ending achilles injury in round 13, than entering the round-14 clash without the experienced 27-year-old Fraser.

"Woody [Cameron Wood] and Chris Bryan were really good last week [against the Western Bulldogs] so I think that will cover Josh's absence a fair bit," Burns said at Melbourne's Tullamarine airport on Friday afternoon before flying out to the Harbour City.

"Anthony's the one that's probably a little bit [more] disappointing because he's got a reasonable record against Sydney and we need him to straighten us up a fair bit.

"We'll have to work around that one."

Burns, 33, also said absence of champion Swan Adam Goodes for the first time since round 22, 1999, will not affect the Pies' planning for the match at ANZ Stadium.

"He's probably been their best player the last three or four times, but they're such an even team I think if any side can lose their number-one onballer and cover him very well, it's Sydney," he said.

"We know it's going to be pretty tough with or without him."

Burns believes the fact the Magpies have beaten the Swans in the corresponding fixture twice in the past three years stands for little, even though the loss was by a solitary point.

"You talk about the individuals you're playing on each time and some you've got good records against and some you haven't got such good records against, but it's nearly 12 months since we played them last as well," he said.
