Fam Day Snaps

Despite a heartbreaking loss to St Kilda less than 24 hours ago, the Magpie Army was out in force for the club’s 2010 family day.

Held at Olympic Park located adjacent to the Lexus Centre, over 10,000 supporters turned out to meet their sporting stars.?

With weather conditions ideal for the outdoor event, capacity was at a maximum with autograph tents proving the most popular choice for the younger Magpies.?

The longest line of the day was in front of the Dale Thomas tent featuring Leon Davis, Sharrod Wellingham and Simon Buckley.

While the players handled the pen with ease, the coaches took to the grass, putting the kids through training drills.??

After experiencing his first head-coaching role at the AFL level last night, Gavin Brown was back at it again working with assistants Nathan Buckley and Luke Beveridge.  Mark Neeld’s primary school teaching past served him well as he possessed a skill for directing the hundreds of aspiring players.

Even the conditioning coaches were out on the ground making sure the kids were fully hydrated while playing under the glaring sun.??

Former Magpie premiership player Michael Christian was roaming the grounds interviewing many of the new recruits.??

American-recruit Shae McNamara is quickly turning into a fan favourite as he spent most of the day posing for pictures and signing guernseys.

The day wrapped up with Christian conducting a Q&A session on the stage with every player introduced to the crowd.

The loudest cheer was saved for head coach Mick Malthouse who was adamant that the Magpie Army would have many reasons to celebrate in season 2010!
