Gysberts, 21, and NAB AFL Draft pick 63 have been sent to the Kangaroos in exchange for Cameron Pedersen and pick 74.
The Roos had earlier received pick 74 from Richmond for Aaron Edwards.
Later on Friday, North Melbourne received pick 42 and 48 from Collingwood in exchange for pick 39.
Gysberts suffered ankle and jaw injuries early in 2012 before spending most of the second half of the season in the VFL. He could only crack one senior appearance, in round 19 against Gold Coast.
The 190cm, 84kg midfielder was the No.11 pick from the 2009 NAB AFL Draft. He won two NAB AFL Rising Star nominations before his career stagnated this season.

Gysberts played 19 games for the Demons.
His manager, Tim Hazell, said Gysberts was ecstatic to join North Melbourne.
"He couldn't be happier - he really likes Brad Scott and he can't wait to work with the likes of Brent Harvey and Andrew Swallow and all the other North mids," he told AFL.com.au.
"There was a bit of interest from other clubs but as soon as he met with North Melbourne he was determined to get there."
Hazell said Gysberts would be ready for "day one" of North's pre-season, and would join the Roos on their trip to Utah for altitude training.
Admitting the trade was still sinking in, the former Demon revealed the deal was confirmed to him late on Thursday night after he met with North officials earlier in the week.
"Brad [Scott] was fantastic and we had a really open and honest conversation," Gysberts told kangaroos.com.au.
"He told me they’re not looking to bring me in to play VFL footy and it’s up to me to repay their faith, work really hard and make the club better. I just can’t wait to start there."
He admitted his 2012 season didn't turn out as he'd planned.
"It wasn’t a great year for me but I’m the first to admit that," Gysberts said.
"I’ve just got to put that behind me and take advantage of a fresh start at North now and do everything I can to play more senior games.
"North is an exciting club that’s headed in the right direction with a great young list so hopefully I can make them an ever better side."

Pedersen, 25, burst onto the scene in 2011 as a mature-age rookie, playing 14 games as a versatile tall. But he fell out of favour this year and spent most of the season with the Roos' VFL affiliate Werribee, winning the club's best and fairest.
Pedersen also won North's best first year player in 2011 ahead of Shaun Atley and Kieran Harper.
He will boost the Demons' key position stocks, which have also been bolstered by the earlier addition of Collingwood's Chris Dawes.
