GOLD Coast has broken its membership record ahead of its primetime debut on Thursday night against the Western Bulldogs.

The Suns announced on Thursday they had conquered their membership tally of 14,465 from their inaugural season in 2011.

They've run a campaign in recent weeks to get across the line, with rising stars Matt Rowell and Izak Rankine even convincing AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan to sign himself and his family up.

Gold Coast's become one of the most watchable teams in the competition this year and it sits in seventh spot with a 4-3 record ahead of the Bulldogs clash.

"Hopefully, we put our best foot forward (on Thursday night) and there are a few more to come this year," Suns CEO Mark Evans told SEN.

"(Our membership record) was set way back in year one, when there was obviously a lot of support just for the Suns coming to the Coast.

"But what we're now finding is we're even getting people who their primary team is Richmond or Hawthorn or Melbourne.

"They're enjoying seeing Metricon on the TV and enjoying watching the young Suns play, and I think they're happy to part with a little bit of money to say, 'Good luck, we like to see you go well and hopefully the growth of the game continues to go well'."
