Co-captain Jonathan Brown is set to reach his 150th AFL match when he lines up against the Western Bulldogs this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. Brown was recruited under the father/son rule by the Lions from the Geelong Falcons with Pick No.30 in the 1999 AFL National Draft.

Throughout his decorated nine-year career, the 26 year-old has won a 2007 Lions Club Champion award, 2007 All-Australian selection, the 2007 AFL Coleman Medal for most goals in a season, the 2007 AFLPA’s Best Captain and Most Courageous Player awards and was a prominent member of the Lions’ hat-trick of premierships from 2001-2003. Brown has kicked 304 goals and also holds the merged Club’s record for most goals in a single match (10 v Carlton in Round 16, 2007).

LAST TIME THEY MET
In Jason Akermanis’ first visit to the Gabba in opposition colours, the Lions kicked the first two goals in the opening four minutes, but had to wait until the ninth minute of the third quarter before booting another major as the Doggies’ running brigade cut loose.

Fortunately, the Lions managed to keep the Bulldogs goal-less in the final term to finish with a respectable margin. Ruckman Jamie Charman was the dominant big man on the field while Tim Notting and Jared Brennan created the bulk of the team’s goal scoring opportunities. Robert Copeland also provided a close tagging check on former Lion Jason Akermanis all night.

Brownlow Medal Votes: 3 – B. Johnson (WB), 2 – N. Eagleton (WB), 1 – T. Notting (BL)
