WEST Coast forward Mark LeCras has completed a speedier than expected recovery from the serious groin injury he sustained in the Eagles' season opening match last month and has been named to play Melbourne on Thursday night.

The 24-year-old is one of three inclusions for the Eagles set to take on the Demons at Patersons Stadium.

Ashley Smith and Patrick McGinnity have also been named to replace the injured Mitch Brown (hand) and omitted pair Will Schofield and Bradd Dalziell.

LeCras was initially expected to miss just under two months of football after dramatically tearing his groin in the Eagles' round one win over North Melbourne.

However, he has been moving closer to a return over the past few weeks after recovering much faster than the club expected and reportedly faced a fitness test on Monday in a bid to prove his fitness for Thursday night.

LeCras has been named to line up in the forward pocket with Brad Ebert, Nic Naitanui, Andrew Gaff and McGinnity to start on the bench.

Schofield is an emergency along with Tom Swift and Gerrick Weedon.

Melbourne travelled to Perth on Tuesday afternoon with an unchanged starting line up from its last game; the round four win over Gold Coast at the Gabba.

The Demons' starting bench will consist of Lynden Dunn, Cale Morton, Stefan Martin and Jamie Bennell, with Matthew Warnock, Ricky Petterd and Addam Maric listed as emergencies.

Ruckman Mark Jamar is poised to play his 100th career game after making his AFL debut in round one of the 2003 season.

Both teams had byes last weekend, enabling them to kick round six off on Thursday evening.
