Smith is the second Sun to get the nod, alongside Brandon Matera who was nominated in round five.
The 205cm ruckman had 22 disposals and five inside 50s during the Suns' eight-point win over the Brisbane Lions in the inaugural Q Clash on Saturday night.
Smith was one of the first three players signed to Gold Coast in 2008, and has played every single game so far in the Suns' debut AFL season.
"Zac has worked extremely hard since arriving at the club three years ago and I have seen him learn and grow into the exciting player that he is becoming," Gold Coast coach Guy McKenna said.
"He has been playing AFL for just over five years now, and in his previous two seasons with the club, through under 18’s and in the VFL, he won our most professional player award, setting a great example for his teammates to follow."
The promising ruckman from Rockhampton represented Queensland in both indoor and outdoor soccer before making the switch to AFL at age 16.
Smith dominated the ruck for Gold Coast in the TAC Cup competition in 2009 and was named in that position in the TAC Cup Team of the Year.
The following year he played all but one game in the VFL and was ranked fifth at the club in clearances and contested possessions with an average of 13 disposals, 21 hitouts and three clearances per game.
