When he debuted in 1994 no one could have expected the impact that this champion would have both on and off the field. He has been a shining light for the Club since his arrival and is a true champion of the game.
His achievements and career highlights are too long to list but one thing is certain, the ‘Smiling Assassin’ will finish his career as a Legend of the Western Bulldogs and the AFL.
Thank-you to everyone who submitted comments and wishes, they have been passed on to Johnno who is very appreciative of your support.
We look forward to your support in season 2011.
I just wish to pass on something that I I discovered today. With my hands sore with arthritis I decided to try
Dick Wicks magnetic wrist bands. But also suffering every day for 18months with an achillies problem I decided to try it around my ankle. I swear that my ankle feels so much better. For once I'm not limping
When I get up from sitting. Maybe its been tried.
A keen Bulldog Supporter.
Come on dogs, lift for johnno. WOOF WOOF WOOF, go dogs and thanks for all the memorys brad johnson
We have grown up watching you play for the best club ever!! You are a SUPER STAR and will be very missed! Have fun after AFL and we hope to still see you at the club. All the best and GO DOGS!!
Sorry to see the end come, but what a journey. Good to see that over your 17 year career you have not changed one bit.
Chat and see you soon Les.
Goodluck with whatever you choose to do in the future, lets hope we see "son of Johno" out there one day. Cheers Mate
I know we can get there, Go Doggies!!!
You are the Western Bulldogs, You are the heart and soul of the club you will be dearly missed from the supporters, the club and on the ground, I wish you and your family all the best and enjoy retirement for as long as you can. look forward to seeing you help in some form of coaching roll around the club you are a true legend
This is sad moment for the Doggies but thank you well done for you unstinting contribution over the years.
I can't imagine how many times I've said or yelled your name in conversation or whilst watching a game of footy. I'm only 21 years of age and you were what inspired me to ignore my dad (a tigers supporter) when I was only around 7 and to follow the dogs. You've been an inspiration to me over the years, and I am full of admiration and respect for what you have achieved on and off the field. I hope to see your wonderful, ever present smile in future. Congratulations on a stellar career. I and thousands of others will miss seeing you out there each week. Best of luck for the future! And as always, Go Dogs!!
A champion of our club & a really decent man
It has been a pleasure to watch you epitimise the true bulldog spirit and honour the privilege of wearing the colors. Without fail you have demonstrated why my family has and will continue to love the bulldogs. I hope that your commitment, courage, honour and spirit will continue to inspire those who have been before you and more importantly those who will follow and look to your example. I wish you the best in the next chapter of your life and hope that you are successful in the future as you have been on the field.

I will still be Johnno when I play footy in the backyard. Go number 6.

Not only a champion player but a wonderful and generous person for our club.

Lets win it for our mate Johnno!!
Thanks for the memories mate. You've been a great guy for us for many years. I remember seeing you at the Essendon game in round 10 this year. I said to you 'Johhno. Get back into the side and win us a flag!' You gave me your trademark smile before heading into the coaches box. We're still in with a chance mate. Thanks for the career, thanks for your 74 goals in 06, and after this season, hopefully I'll be thanking you for the 2010 flag
Cheers mate we will miss you!

The first game when he actually ran backwards to dodge a tackle told me he would be a great player. Always courageous. Always smiling.

Massive inspiration for the team this week and to move forward ... Go out there and give it your best shot, that's all we ask for. GO DOGGIES!!!
To our ever smiling captain, lets see that smile for three more Saturday's. Go Doggies
The 300th stands out where Johnno kicked 5 goals in the second half to pretty much win the game off his own boot, the dvd still gets watched at my place.
Playing footy in the school grounds I always pretended to be number 6. I had some skills but I could never replicate the heart and passion that we saw every week from the real number 6.
Thank you so much for all the memories Johnno, it will be hards seeing the dogs run out with you in the stands. You will always be remembered as a player who got me into this game and the reason I go to every bulldogs game I can to cheer on the Red White and Blue..
All the best for your future. XX
Congratulations on a stellar career.
You will be known as one of the greats to of ever graced the field of an AFL surface!

Now your last task is to defy the odds Johnno and lead these boys all the way in 2010! It's a tough ask, but if anyone can get this talented group up it's you! Thanks for everything Johnno!
You are a testament to everything that is good about the western suburbs. You are the very heart of our community and I wish you all the best brother.
Now, go and win yourself that flag - go out with that fairytale bang!
PS - hopefully you won't disappear from view for too long.

Very sad to see you go. You have been a legend of the club for such a long time and definitely a favorite of mine and many other supporters. As one of the most repected players in the AFL you definitely leave big shoes to fill in the bulldogs leadership group.
All the best Brad and good luck for the remaining games..I'll be there cheering you on!
No matter what happens from now on, you will always be a TRUE CHAMPION in my eyes. Well done, you have earnt a good rest. Hope you dont get upto too much mischief with Smithy on the boundary!!

Good luck in your life post football.
You've been an ornament to the game and a wonderful ambassador for the Bulldogs.
You will be sadly missed from the football field, hopefully you can say goodbye whilst holding the premiership cup on that last saturday in September.
Stick it up the Swans on Saturday night.
We will be there, wouldn't miss it xxx
However, I think he's made the right decision. The game has evolved past what Johnno is now capable of.
Congrats on a stellar career mate.
GO DOGS!
You will be sadly missed - You are a legend and will always be remembered that way
I have never seen another player with more dedication and heart. You are a true champion and you will be dearly missed. I am forever grateful you stuck by the doggies.
