After spending the 2009 and 2010 pre-seasons with the Club, skilful midfielder, Tom Mitchell, can now officially call the Swans home after he was selected with pick 21 in the 2011 AFL Draft. The left-footed talent was secured by the Swans under the father-son rule back in October, and began his latest pre-season with the team after arriving in Sydney last week.

Date of birth:
31/5/93
Height: 180cm
Weight:
73kg

NAB AFL Draft Combine: Mitchell did not take part in any physical testing at the combine.

Jason Phelan says: The Swans have got themselves a contested ball, clearance specialist in Tom Mitchell. The hard-at-it onballer has battled injury at times this season, but he was among WA's best when he came into the team late in the national under-18 carnival. His ability to win the ball and distribute it efficiently by hand is outstanding and he is also a long kick off his left boot. He returned to play colts footy for Claremont late in the season and amassed 45 possessions in his first game back from an injury layoff.

Kevin Sheahan says: Mitchell was part of 13th AIS-AFL Academy intake. He is a left-footer with ball-winning ability. Starred late in the U18 championships, averaging 28 disposals. Signed as father-son to Swans. From Hale School.

In his own words: I'm a midfielder who can play inside or outside. My strengths are ball winning and bringing others into the game.
