THE AFL has thrown its support behind long-time executive member Tony Peek, who has taken leave from the League to battle serious illness.
The League revealed on Monday that the veteran administrator had fallen ill and has taken an absence from AFL headquarters to commence treatment.
Club chief executives, president and AFL Commission members have been made aware of Peek's illness.
The former journalist has been a stalwart of the League in recent decades, joining the AFL in 1989 as media manager and later becoming its general manager of communications.
In 2003 he was also appointed as an assistant to the AFL's chief executive officer.
