ST KILDA has made a late change to its team to play Geelong on Monday night, with in-form ruckman Paddy Ryder out.

Midfielder Ed Phillips has come in to replace him.

Ryder's absence will mean Rowan Marshall will have to ruck one-out, a deviation from the Saints' successful two-headed approach of the past month, where it has won four straight games. 

Phillips was a late inclusion for last Thursday night's game against Gold Coast when he replaced rested skipper Jarryn Geary.

Geelong has no changes.

The blockbuster R11 match kicks off at 6.10pm AEST and will be followed by the Fremantle and Hawthorn clash at Optus Stadium from 6.40pm AWST (8.40pm AEST).

The Cats have named a strong line-up, with no rest for star midfielders Patrick Dangerfield, Joel Selwood, and Mitch Duncan.

Gary Rohan, Jake Kolodjashnij and Brandan Parfitt also return, while Zach Guthrie, Sam Simpson and Lachie Fogarty are out of the team that crushed North Melbourne last Wednesday.

The Saints have brought in skipper Jarryn Geary and will unleash 189cm midfielder Jack Bytel for his debut game. But speedster Zak Jones has been rested.

Geelong's ability to recover is about to be seriously tested with another huge clash on Friday against ladder leader Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium.

Fremantle's faint hopes of making finals probably comes down to this game against the Hawks.

The Dockers have brought in injury-prone veteran Stephen Hill - who has recovered from his adductor injury - and recruit James Aish, who has overcome concussion.

The pair come in for injured forward Brandon Matera (groin) and omitted youngster Tobe Watson.

Hawks champion Shaun Burgoyne will miss with a hamstring injury, with Conor Nash his replacement. If Hawthorn wins it will move ahead of Carlton and Gold Coast to sit just outside the eight with Melbourne, the Bulldogs, and Essendon.
