PORT Adelaide will consider taking Adelaide father-son prospect Jackson Edwards in the NAB AFL Draft on Friday night.
The Crows have ruled themselves out of selecting Edwards – the son of club great Tyson – in the national draft.
They are hoping he slips through to the rookie draft, where they will be able to add him onto their list with their final pick.
The Power could derail their plans since they plan to make four selections between picks 46 and 62 in the national draft.
Port also have selections 63, 82 and 89, but are likely not to use those and go with 38 players on their senior list, as they did this season.
A left-footer with lovely skills, Jackson Edwards impressed for South Australia at this year's NAB AFL Under-18 Championships and has trained with the Crows.
The Power's national recruiting manager Geoff Parker said Edwards was someone they had been keeping their eye on.
"He's had a really good season this year and even last year," Parker said.
"He's put together a good resume.
"I'm sure we're not the only club who has discussed him throughout the draft process and Adelaide are going to do what they're going to do through the rookie picks."
The Crows have confirmed they only intend to use two picks – selections 12 and 39 – in the national draft.
The Power also have an association with the Edwards family, with Tyson having been an assistant coach at the club from 2011-15.
Newly appointed midfield development coach, Crows champion Scott Thompson, has also worked closely with Jackson Edwards.
"It probably doesn't hurt," Parker said.
"Tyson was also at our club for a few years as well, so we've got a pretty good understanding of Jackson and what he's capable of."
Parker said the Power would look to add players who possess speed given they have lost Matt White (retired) and Jarman Impey (Hawthorn) during the off-season.
Parker also confirmed the Power would likely add delisted North Melbourne veteran Lindsay Thomas during Monday's rookie draft, while they were also considering former Brisbane Lions forward Michael Close.
"There's been speculation all the way through about Lindsay Thomas, and I don't think people would be too surprised if he ends up at Port Adelaide," Parker said.
"Michael's another one we will talk about.
"We've got to get through tomorrow night and see what ends up on our list after that."
