Drew Petrie may have been overlooked by several major media organisations when it came to voting for the best players in Saturday's game, but Brad Scott and Michael Voss certainly noticed and appreciated his impact.
While it was Lion Simon Black who received the top honours in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year, Petrie was North's top vote-winner with eight, slightly edging out youngster Ryan Bastinac.
Petrie pulled down 13 marks against Brisbane and was the dominant forward on the ground. He also booted three goals, with only inaccurate kicking stopping him from having a greater impact on the scoreboard.
Meanwhile Bastinac played his best game since returning from a knee injury in round 12. The 20 year-old racked up a team-high 29 disposals and booted two goals showing exactly why he's been so highly touted since debuting in 2010.
Aaron Edwards was another who caught the eye of the coaches with his hard work up the ground, while Andrew Swallow laid eight tackles to go with his 24 possessions.
Scott McMahon often flies under the radar, but managed to earn a vote for his efforts in defence. He had 19 possessions and took four marks, one of those a courageous effort running back with the flight of the ball and into oncoming traffic.
