General Description:

Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness (SUSF) is a dynamic organisation providing sporting, recreation and fitness services to the University and general community. This involves the coordination of over 40 sporting clubs, management of several health, fitness and other sports-related facilities, as well as the coordination of University and community-based sport and recreation programs, and high performance elite sporting programs.

Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness’s object is to encourage, foster, promote, develop, extend and govern amateur sport members of the University of Sydney and greater community and to promote the health and well being of these stakeholders through the provision of sport and recreational activities and facilities.

Five years after re-elevation to the Sydney AFL Premier Division, the Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC) has gone from strength to strength both on and off the field. One of the country’s oldest existing AFL clubs, SUANFC with the support of Sydney University Sport and Fitness (SUSF) has remained an innovative and progressive Australian Football Club and has recently accepted one of two offers extended to Sydney AFL based clubs to join the North Eastern Australian Football League (NEAFL) from 2012. As part of consolidating a platform for sustained on and off field success at both the local Sydney and NEAFL levels, SUSF and the Club are excited to announce the new position of SUANFC Commercial & Community Operations Coordinator. The role will cover three key areas of the organization - Commercial Operations, Community Engagement and Communication. The role will also include general administrative duties and support the SUANFC Executive with strategic planning. Fundamental to the role will be engagement with an active volunteer group and as required will work with the SUANFC High Performance & Football Operations Manager.

The role will promote SUANFC and Sydney University Women’s AFL Club (SUWAFC) as well as the University and SUSF through the administration of a professional sporting program undertaking exemplary varsity and community programs.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential

  •   Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders within a Professional Sporting Organisation
  •   Demonstrated skills in developing commercial plans, strategies and initiatives
  •   Demonstrated Leadership Skills
  •   Demonstrated Commercial Management and Business Development experience
  •   Demonstrated Negotiation (closure) skills
  •   Demonstrated Commercial and Business acumen
  •   Demonstrated Strategic Planning skills
  •   Demonstrated Organisational skills
  •   Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills
  •   Excellent computer, website, presentation, communication, general administration and finance skills
  •   Pass a Probity Test (Working With Children Form)

Desirable
  •   Credibility within and knowledge of the AFL (NSW/ACT), the NEAFL and/or other state league club administration or other nationally recognised sport
  •   Excellent administration skills with experience in coordinating the activities of a professional/semi- professional sporting club
  •   Intimate knowledge and previous experience working with a University based environment
  •   Understanding of industry best practice with respect to sports management and administration
  • Occupational Health & Safety - Workplace safety


The salary for this position is between $40,000 - $50,000 per annum inclusive of super (dependent upon qualifications and experience)+ Benefits.
