COLLINGWOOD coach Mick Malthouse has questioned whether the Bombers and Magpies deserve exclusive access to the MCG on Anzac Day.

Malthouse, in a nostalgic mood ahead of his last Anzac Day game, said he was uncertain if his team deserved to hog the Anzac spotlight on Australia's sporting calendar, and it was possibly unfair on players who missed out.

"Should it be exclusive? There are a lot of players out there who perhaps are saying, 'Why didn't we get a chance to play?'," Malthouse said.

"Some people will play their whole careers at Essendon and Collingwood and they will only know Anzac Day, whereas a player who has equal right to it doesn't.

"Is it fair? I feel very privileged, but I feel selfish at times wondering what it's like for other clubs looking in, and thinking, 'We have every right to be here as well, so why aren't we?' That bites into me a little bit.

"I'm not sure about it."

Malthouse doubted that club president Eddie McGuire would share his sentiment.
