Hawthorn Football Club is united in its support of those affected by the current bushfires that have swept the state of Victoria.

The Club, its Board, players and staff are currently considering a number of ways to mobilise their support, to meet the immediate needs of families and communities hit by the fires and in the long-term, help the communities to rebuild.

The Club has been in contact with local councils to understand how it can best contribute to those that have been affected by this disaster.

The Club supports the call by State Emergency Services to donate blood where possible, as emergency teams continue to attend to those in urgent medical need.

Many Hawthorn members have contacted the Club to offer their support to those in need and the Hawks’ Community department will coordinate the Club’s efforts in the coming days and weeks.

Hawks President Jeff Kennett said today, “I’m heartened by the response of our players, our football and administrative staff, and our supporters who have unanimously supported that they want the Hawthorn Football Club to assist those who have sadly been touched by these atrocious fires.

“We will look at a range of options before deciding on how the Club will best make a specific contribution to disaster relief and re-building communities.”
